Katso tämä hulvaton komedia kuvitellusta Spinal Tap -nimisestä heavy metal bändistä etkä osaa enää suhtautua vakavasti rockyhtyeisiin. Kauan sitten bändi levytti hittibiisin. Lähes 20 vuotta myöhemmin yhtye yrittää edelleen takertua menneitten aikojen kuuluisuuteen ja lähtee tuhoon tuomitulle kiertueelle USA:han.
Clevelandissa bändi eksyy lavan alle. Washingtonissa bändi on vahingossa varattu ilmavoimien tanssiaisiin. Eikä chicagolaiseen levykauppaan ilmesty ketään pyytämään bändin jäseniltä nimmareita.
